Middle Management Academy

The Middle Management Academy (MMA) offers you the chance to build the skills and knowledge of middle managers in behavioral health provider agencies, whether they are new to their positions or have had to learn by trial and error over time. I designed the MMA in 1991, and since then more than 800 participants from 200+ organizations have attended this four-day, hands on, participatory workshop. Each has gained an overview of managing in a public-sector behavioral healthcare agency – including budgets, productivity, teamwork, accountability, morale, and supervising. Along the way, working intensively in small teams, they gain a new sense of confidence and appreciation for their pivotal role within their organization. Offered in partnership with the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, the MMA can be delivered within a single agency, or with participants from several agencies. Small faculty-student ratios make this an intensive coaching and learning experience. And MMA graduates get exclusive access to an online forum and set of special resources to help them connect, support each other, and consolidate their development.

Not a provider agency?

We have customized the MMA to meet the specific needs of other behavioral health organizations, including public-sector management entities and government purchasers. Contact me to talk about how this might work in your environment.

“I found every part of this training useful. This is one of the best trainings I have ever had.”
